Ultimate Tailgate Party
Tailgaiting is quite common around here, and it’s a real show! We are well known for our tailgates and our beer 🙂 So, I’ve created the Ultimate Tailgate Party Guide, including a packing list freebie!
Tailgating is like second nature to us, we do it all the time! My husband and I had our first date at a baseball game, and ever since then, we’ve been season ticket holders and frequent attendees at the games. I’ve got the packing list memorized myself, and as my father-in-law says, “they’ve got this down to a science”. I love to host lots of people at our house and at our parties, so we’re experts in all the best things to make a party!

Tailgate Party Food
The first thing you need, without a doubt, is FOOD. You absolutely cannot have a tailgate without food! Food is what brings people together, and tailgate food is delicious! The best food options for a tailgate is your average burgers, brats, and hot dogs. Based on your health choices, you could also go for grilled chicken or veggie burgers as well.
Of course, if you need food, then you need a way to cook it! You can find several reasonably priced small grills all over the place. This is the grill that we use. It’s a propane grill, so make sure you also purchase propane, too!
If you are looking for something a little cheaper, you can opt for this one.
Want something taller so you don’t have to squat? This one is great!
Or, if you are more of a charcoal person, this is an excellent, cheap grill! My husband LOVEs charcoal grilling, he swears it tastes better.
In addition to the grill and food, you will, of course, need all the party supplies. You can check out my complete list of needed items on my free packing list, here!
Tailgate Party Comfort
One of the biggest things about a party other than the food is comfort. People remember comfort. So, there are a few must-haves to make sure everyone is comfortable.
First up is a pop-up canopy. Now, I’m not going to lie, these are an investment. However, they are absolutely 100% necessary and have saved our butts more times than I can count. Not only our butts but sometimes we are generous and share with our neighboring tailgaters in exchange for food and drinks 🙂
In any case, this is a really great, best-selling tent option. It is reasonably priced as far as tents go, but it will save you from the sun, heat, and even the rain. It’s pretty easy to set up, my husband and I can do it with just the two of us, and it comes in a great carrying case with wheels! Those sandbags are also priceless on a windy day, too! Not only that, but it comes in about 15 colors, so you can coordinate with your team colors!
In addition to the tent, you will also need camp chairs. These are pretty straightforward, and I’m pretty sure you probably already have some. If not, you can get some nice, cheap ones here.
Kick up the Party!
Now, in addition to food, drinks, a tent, and some chairs, you will want to make this party a real party! There are a few options to take your tailgate to the next level.
First, is music! You will want a bluetooth speaker to hook up to someone’s phone for some great jams! You can get one here for about $25. I’ve had great luck with the free Pandora stations, or a Spotify playlist.
Second, is games! Our favorite and most portable games are ladder toss, and cornhole! There is also the option for a great game of ball toss as well.
